Yesterday (Wednesday) Rachel and I took off for the day to visit some friends in San Fransisco! We had so much fun together. I rarely go places with just Rachel, so the day started off feeling a bit odd, but turned out to be such fun Mommy and Daughter time. Rachel was a little off at first. She was not happy that we left Ethan at Nana's house and she acted very out of sorts for the first hour or so in S.F -- kept asking "where's E-E?" and when I would tell her he was at Nana's house, she would reply with "I miss a brudder" (which is "I miss my brother"). Too cute, I know.
We drove in this time and made great time! Laura lives over by Golden Gate park and with light traffic at the bridge we still got there in less than an hour and a half! The weather could not have been more beautiful... When we were crossing the Bay Bridge we could see the Golden Gate crystal clearly. Such a sight! We met the girls at the best hot dog place ever. They serve all organic food and I never would have guessed organic hot dogs could be that delicious. The place is called Underdog for you yelp people out there. :)
After lunch we ventured over to a park and let the girls play their hearts out. Kind of fun fact -- its one of the same parks that I used to play at when I was as young as Rachel. Same playground and all! Jenna is 3 weeks older than Rachel, so they're pretty much at the same place in life, development wise. They were quite funny together; didn't really mind each other's company, but they weren't all over each other either. We played at the park for a while and then went to the lake and fed the ducks and then walked on the most beautiful trail through GG Park. I took lots of pictures that I'll upload tonight.
It was SO fun finally spending time with Laura. We met... I have no idea how many years ago. Our parents may have even met each other before we were born (mom, if you read this maybe you'll remember). Laura and I really haven't hung out together since I was probably 15, but have been able to keep in touch through emailing, facebook and now the wonderful world of instant messenger! :)
After our time with Laura and Jenna we drove into the business district (wasn't that a fun experience!) and picked Jason up from work. Jason's manager was awesome and let him leave at 3pm and drive home with us. Loads of fun having Daddy's company in the car on the way home. Rachel was a big hit in the office. She hasn't seen his coworkers since last July and she's changed quite a bit since then, so they were all thrilled to get the chance to see her. On the way through Walnut Creek we stopped in at our favorite restaurant P.F Changs and had a yummy early dinner. Rachel loved the alone time with us and soaked it all up.
It was super cute to see her and Ethan reunite at the end of the evening... screams of delight, arms around each other, hugs, kisses "I missed you!!" and more. Thanks to Laura and Jenna for the fun day. We're hoping to go back in April and spend a Saturday with the Dads this time.

Yay! I'm so happy we finally managed to get together. It was so much fun watching Rachel & Jenna together (Jenna kept saying "Rachel" today). Hope we can do it again before another 9 months passes. :-)
I'm glad you liked Underdog. Everyone in the City and everyone who visits the City should try. ;-)
And I'm pretty sure we met before I was 6 or 7 because I think our families knew each other before the Valley Church days (right?)...LONG LONG time.
