I am very much "into" politics, but don't post much about it here because I know how touchy and sensitive the topic can be. I put it right up there(though not as important of course!) with sharing the Gospel - the truth needs to be shared!
So many people are becoming too complacent when it comes to politics and I get sick to my stomach when I hear things like "we stopped voting because we figured, what's the use?" Arg... get out there and read up on the running Presidential candidates and be a part of changing this country.
While you're doing so, may I encourage you to check out my favorite? Go here and read up. Be aware, educate yourselves and don't just believe everything you hear on the news. The media has been trying to hide and down play this guy for months... and with good reason.

Yes! I've seen several and they are great. I was so happy when he raised the 12 million so fast. Hmmm... maybe it helps to have God on your side? :)
We're never going to have anyone out that that we agree with 100%, but its pretty cool when it comes close.

Ok...So I'll totally reserve our Ron Paul "debate" for over coffee..but I have to say, I was actually a huge fan of his until I heard his comments in the YouTube debate regarding terrorism. He really appears to believe that the Islamic terrorists only want to attack us because we are "occupying their land." In my book, this shows me that he doesn't really grasp the spiritual aspect of the situation in the Middle East and while I'm not a fan of the way President Bush has handled everything, I think it's essential that the next President understand that there are more than material/economic considerations in play when it comes to terrorism.
That said, I would really love a candidate who was like Ron Paul on domestic issues. Seriously - he's pretty awesome on that level.

Yeah... I was a little taken a-back by that as well. Mostly because I wasn't sure if I agreed or disagreed with him. :) I tend to not believe every thing I see on utube because I've heard things can often be cut and pasted in a way to make them appear to be saying what they're not. Anyway... I was slightly concerned when I heard that.
Like I've said before, I don't think we're ever going to get a President that we agree with 100% and, quite frankly, I think I care more about the way he views human life (abortion, domestic issues, etc...) than how he feels about the terrorists and why they're attacking us. :)
Look at it this way... Obama, Clinton or Ron Paul?
I ask you. :)

Although, if it ever became a reality, I'd definitely take Ron Paul.
I just think the isolationists were wrong during WWII, they were wrong during Vietnam and they're wrong now.
I agree with you about the human life thing, but there are a few other candidates (not that I like any of them) who are also strong on life and domestic issues.
I actually watched the whole YouTube debate as it was being televised...I hate hearing the news media snippets afterward. It wasn't an edited clip, he actually did say the only reason why the terrorists want to attack us is because we're occupying their land (in Saudi Arabia and elsewhere). I'm not sure where he stands on the Israel/Palestine conflict, but I have a feeling I don't agree with him there, either.
The upside to the whole isolationist/protectionist thing is that he's probably one of the few candidates who would take harsh steps to protect American consumers from tainted goods from foreign countries.
Ahhhh...the ambivalence continues. Here's to Apathy 2008.

Yeah my biggest concern with him is his take on the war and international politics in general. While I agree we need to see to our own needs first, we can't ignore the rest of the world. I was never quite comfortable with Iraq in the first place, but the reality is that we're there now and we need to see it through, or risk leaving the situation worse than we found it.
Where I am a big fan of Ron Paul is his strict take on limited constitutional government. We've had way too much power ceded to the government (particularly in the executive branch), and I don't think that's safe, regardless of who holds the reins of power. That, combined with his conservative socio-moral position make him an attractive candidate on a couple of levels.
