... to get sick! It seems like every year at this time, we come down with the most horrid sicknesses. I hear its because the flu/cold viruses thrive in the cold weather. That explains it. I just thought our bodies were rejecting Christmas. :)
Ethan and Rachel have have colds, going on 3 weeks now. It didn't seem like anything other than the common cold, up until about 5 days ago. Sounded like everything moved to their chests and up in their sinuses. So we journeyed over to Kaiser today (for Ethan) because I was convinced he must have strep throat. The kids were both excited to see Dr. Barlo (I know, so odd, but they were) and wanted to show and tell him all the new things they could do.
The diagnoses? Ethan has 2 ear infections (amazing since he hasn't complained of ear pain at all!) strep throat AND sports induced asthma. After he turns 3 they want me to bring him back in so they can test him and see if he just has overall asthma, but for now, they'll calling it sports induced, which Jason and I already suspected, so no shock there.
Rachel's appointment isn't until Thursday, but Dr. Barlo (not her regular Dr.) went ahead and checked her for me. He said her left ear looks like its getting an infection. He was cleaning the wax out of it and it started bleeding, which he said was fine, but means its going to be very tender and cause a lot of pain. I'm in the process of trying to get her in to be seen tomorrow and not waiting 2 more days. We have a love-hate relationship with Kaiser. :)
We're happy to be home and the kids are finally down for naps. Ethan had his 1st dose of the antibiotics and his 1st round of the Arbuteral and that went better than I had thought it would. He only has to have the inhaler administered before he goes out running around outside (sports or climbing, running, etc...) or when he has a severe cold like this.
Anyway... there's our "news". Looks like we'll be getting this out of our systems just in time for Christmas. :)
