Hi Friends, Here is an update on baby Jonathan Alahuzos. Please read the following and even better, please keep him (and family) in your prayers. Jonathan is Bill and Renee's 5th child.
Dear one & all,
Our family has been blessed with a new little boy Jonathan Gilbert Alahuzos. He was born on Tues January 16th at 2:57am weighing in at 8lbs 15ozs & 20 inches long.
Upon birth, Jonathan exhibited tremor/shaking-type behavior with his hands & feet that seemed more prolonged than a normal newborn. Initially it was seen as neurological immaturity but upon discharge, the pediatric nurse wanted the Dr to evaluate his behavior one more time. At this point they took him to NICU for observation & care. A battery of tests has been, & is still being run to determine why & what is making him shake. He is currently on anti-seizure meds & his body has calmed down.
We are still in the diagnostic stage of information. So far all tests have come back negative for any viral/bacteria infection which may cause these symptoms. Yesterday, we were able to hold him & Renée could nurse Jonathan. We get updates in spurts with long silence in between. This is just the “nature of the beast” of waiting for results of tests and finding answers with medical conditions. Patience, prayer & perseverance are on the Dr’s prescription for us.
We are so thankful for the care we have received. Because of this, & our great friends & family, we are able to walk through this situation. Our God is good & His provision is so great. Since we are not able to get to a computer as quickly as in the past, information is not given out as quickly. Know that “no news” from us is either “we have no news” or things are progressing as it should & there is really no update. We do not know when an ETA is for coming home. He may be just a couple more days or a full week. We truly don’t suspect it is going to be more than this but even the medical staff cannot give us a more definitive timeframe.
We are at great peace with the care & attention that is being given to him & do not want him home sooner than what is best for our son. As news comes in, we will update you. Thank you for all the offers of care. We appreciate it & are gratefully receiving it! We could not do this without our family and community of friends.
In His care, Bill & Renée & family
