The following happens between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM on the day of the California presidential primary. Events occur in real time.
So last night I started digging around the house looking for my voting paperwork so I would know where to go to vote today. I found nothing but the absentee paperwork that we were sent, which confused me, as I'd not registered as absentee.
It turns out (apparently because we're in a brand-new neighborhood that's not full yet) that there is no polling place for our precinct. Since we have less than 250 voters in our precinct, we are required to either vote absentee, or (as I did) vote absentee and drop off the packet at a local polling station (which I think didn't have machines, but was set up just to receive dropped-off absentee packets). It was somewhat odd, I've never voted from the comfort of my own bed before :)
I'm curious, does anyone still go to the polls, or do you all vote absentee? I have to admit, there's something about walking down to the polling station with the family that seems fun and traditional.

Since I went to the polling place and dropped off the packets, I *did* at least get the "I Voted" sticker!
Actually I got two (one for Stef), but that won't get home to her until it's irrelevant :)

I still go to the polling place, and I love it. I like getting the sticker & talking to the nice old people who always volunteer. All that stuff. Fun.
